After 230 miles of driving in the pouring rain, getting skunked by relentless mist and fog, and ultimately thwarted by the snow on my real destination (an epic waterfall), I clambered down into the White River for at least one shot. The atmosphere of this river at the north side of Lake Wenatchee in Cascade mountains of Washington resembles this shot - moody, wet, muddy, but ultimately serene, quiet, nothing but the rush of the river, the drops of rain from the tree branches, the odd bird rustling in brush.
